cosworth stage 3
I am going to stage 3 i.e 803s, 3 bar map ect. can fitting a chip be done by yourself our is it a performance garage job? will it need setting up or is it just a case of fitting it.

chips are easy to fit; just make sure you get one for your exact spec.
most chips will only require you to set the CO% at idle, but that's assuming everything else on the car is OK and set right.
if you are going to do it yourself, please make sure you get fueling checked on boost

Agree 100% about getting it checked once you've fitted the parts as a friend found out to his cost.

All good advice here.
fuel pump wiring. check.
fuel filter. check.
4x4 or 500 intercooler. check.
new -31 wastegate actuator. check.
kick ass headgasket. check.
T43 and .48 or what have you. check.
Next go for 55lb siemens and the matching MSD chip. Then get a wideband O2 sensor and gauge. Keep it at 14.7 lambda on idle with the CO2 screw and watch the fuel on boost. I recommend the Innovate LC-1 and a air fuel gauge that reads numbers, not "rich" or "lean" is a must.

As said above, easy enough to fit yourself but get it checked out as soon as you have done it.
A few ŁŁ having it checked is a lot cheaper than a engine

Asked myself that before but came to conclusion unless you have high ACT's then I can't see it making a difference unless driving hard like on track.

from my reading 7-10 hp and a lot of safety margin from proper fuelling. Off boost driveability and mileage is improved.
It's the spray pattern of the siemens that helps.

if your buying new, 55s all the way on baby t34,
but he has greys, which still out flow his turbocharger, so he may aswell keep them and run some decent software, our greys files are excellent

there is a screw on the ecu which adjust the CO%, its a global screw which adjust the whole map and not just at idle.
you'll need a CO% reader or go to any decent garage and they'll have one.
my msd chip stated that i have to have the co% between 2.5 -> 2.7% at idle (non lambda, obviously)

Also as a a point of reference if you set your fuel to 14.7 you'll get about %2.5 CO with this setup.

std cams are good on a t34,
14 inlet does work well if pistons allow.
as for price...brb

Are standard cams still good on a .63 housing?! or better suited to the .48 housing?! No probs switching to a bd14 inlet i had valve cuts outs machined into the pistons to allow for bigger cams at a later date

Std cams are good. The chip is best suited to a .48 from what I understand since it has a broader power range and flatter torque curve.
