Default Anyone live in or near Montrose, Scotland?

I've just landed myself a new job as a Mechanical Service Engineer for a company called National Oilwell Varco

This involves 2 weeks training up at Aberdeen then a further 10 weeks training at Montrose, just wondering if anyone lives in the Montrose area and can suggest things.places to go/do during the week. When i was up there for an interview last month it seemed a little bit on the quiet side, but then again it was a Monday night

Are there any local gyms etc in that neck of the woods?

Great stuff, cheers for that

Had a couple of pints in the Market Tavern, Picture House and The Vault after my interview as i had about 4 hours to kill til the train turned up then it was cancelled altogether and i had to get to Edinburgh then get a taxi from Edinburgh to South Shields Luckily at the expense of National Express... the taxi cost £234

Decent golf course. Montrose Links i think its called. Carnoustie isn't far either.

Other than that, i can't help. Dundee will be the closest for a decent night out i think!

Stuart will show you the high class side to Dundee... spot of lawn bowls in the afternoon, followed by some delightful afternoon tea at the Yacht Club before moving onto the familys countryside manor, built by Lord Cos IVth in 1856.

Or, he'll get you shitfaced in Fatties and hook you up with some dirty whoorebags.

...on second thoughts, a man who doesn't smile while throwing a battered pie in his grid is of no interest to me.

Chookters... ...Fat Sams is alright every now and again actually, its pretty much the only option for a night out, so if you go more than once in 6 months the smell of B/O and piss soaked carpet can get a bit boring.

Cheers,
Grant

Well im here now, first night last night, had a bite to eat then ended up in the Northern Vaults pub with the other lads im working with, staying in a canny little B&B, so far so good.

Cant believe how little snow is up this way compared to what we've been getting in England, the roads were champion on the way up
