Default cosworth question

anyone tell me if a xr4i tunnel is the same as a cosworth 2wd one please????

Nope.

Look for two big humps on the floor that are very pronounced. The XR4i doesn't have these.

Next question is what year XR4i?

XR4X4 or cossie one should be easy to weld in. Or you can make your own "bulges".

The tunnel is fine, the just need to make wide space by the shifter area.

I thought all 2wd drive sierras had the same tunnel.

what so a cosworth2wd box will still bolt in to a 4i tunnel ?then just need the buldges doing?

Yep. Early Sierra bodies didn't have room for the transfer case. The tunnel is the same width etc but here are just two bulges by the shifter to allow for the mtx75 transfer case.

The floor change happened around early 1986 depending on what plant had them. Genk and Karmann had different switch overs I think because the XR4Ti switched to "wide tunnel" late 85 and early 86 models. We got a mish mash or sierra options such as non-sunroof shells etc.

My 1985 XR4ti sits beside my 1988 saff and the tunnel is much wider in that spot. The XR4Ti is a tarted up XR4i shell with longer chassis rails, different wheel well, 909 stiffening plates, slam panel X brace etc etc.
