Claying is quite easy really, just takes time to do it properly, would definetly recommend doing it though, paintwork is so smooth after!! I used one of the meguirs 'quick clay' kits in halfords and it did a good enough job for me.

Wet entire car.

Body first.
Wash with hot water and nice mitt.
Spray rinse.
Clay bar skim with good clay bar.
Glass gets old clay bar.
Spray rinse.

Wheels with old mitt.
Clay bar with dead old bar.
Rinse.
Every couple washes I take the wheels off...

Clean engine, interior, inside glass etc with various happy stuff. Then I do another quick hot wash and spray rinse, skipping wheels. Green people hate my water waste. Screw 'em.

Doing a quick skim with the clay bar reduces the time needed scrubbing crap off. It's cheap do it quickly and often instead of hard once or twice a year. Save the elbow grease.

When I do the full monty I usually, wash, leather off, take the car out for a spin to get all the water out of it, back to the drive, leather off any water marks, leather off wheels with seperate leather, then polish, and then use super high gloss finish to finish it off always comes up a treat

jet wash it over to remove majority of crap, then shampoo, then rinse, chamy off and leave to dry, then wax, high gloss and drive!

Have used the meguires clay bar, pretty easy to use, keep it well lubricated with the stuff that comes in the kit.

You quickly get to feel for the pressue, and feel less and less friction until it is gliding and is done in that area.

Warm the bar up in warm water before use if your doiing it in the cold.

When the weather's nice and I've got nowt to do I wash, clay, polish and wax. But, this last weekend for instance, I did the one bucket method, with sponge, and was sat indoors within half hour!

The Meguiar's clay bar "lube" is cheap window cleaner. Use liberally.
