Broadband
It is time for me to change. Orange have decided to put my broadband up by £5 a month so in search of a new provider.
Any recommendations? Any warning of who to stay the hell to stay away from?

Orange are shit. They did exactly the same to me as they did to you, so I cancelled and now use BT.
They are also shit, but not quite in the same league of shittyness as Orange.
They all make money in the most underhand ways, and are therefore all cunts. For e.g., my package is 100gb a month, but depending on how heavy a user you are, they slow you down. So even if I only use 20gb a month, if I want to use that all at once, they don't like it and slow me right down.
Utter tossers, and I can't wait until the day I have enough money to have some decent proper high speed broadband with a quality ISP.

Realistically, how much do you download?
You may have to have a phoneline, but if you can't get the cable from virgin media, only the ADSL don't bother and go with the cheapest ADSL provider, as they all use the same infrastructure, but some companies have download caps / traffic shaping
It all depends on how your using your internet, just trolling forums? or downloading all you can 24x7
If you are just casual, no heavy downloading then BT/Sky/other company will be OK, but virgin is one of the best, IMHO =]

Im with O2, £9 a month for 20Mb. Had it a year, not one problem, call centre is UK based etc. They will even try and support non-standard (ie - one they dont supply) routers. I realistically get 10.5Mb download and 3.5Mb upload so better than a lot. I am changing to Sky next month though, purely for the all in one package thing!
Pardeep - how are you finding Sky Broadband?

Plus.net have been great for me - real British people who know what they are talking about in customer service when you need them, and they have been entirely reliable for years now - it's me and my gear that have ever caused any problems.
Mention me and I get 50p off my bill every month that you stay connected with them too!

Music is ok, I'm talking if your downloading big things, like films, videos, games
If its just a few songs here and there you won't have to worry about reaching any caps put on your services
