Default rs turbo smokes a lot when cold what does it sound like pls

hi had my series two turbo for a couple of months now , on my 3rd one !!

if the car is left over night i start it up , drive up the road then after 2mins it starts to pour out blue smoke ,it does it for about 2 minutes then calms down.

it also does it if you boot it when warm when you let off the throttle.

ppl had said it could be various things just wanted some ppls advice as you may of been asked this before

it is definatly oil as there is an oily resadue round the exhaust and even spots on the bumper

shame cos the bodywork on this car is lovely and only had two previous owners so really would like to get it sorted

many thanks in advance and a happy new year to you all

could be the turbo mate, or worn rings.

i would check all the breather pipes & gallerys are clear to start with & make sure its not over full of oil (though its probably not), if all ok check inside the charge carrier for excess oil deposits if there is, its prob turbo, if not, rings.

i'd agree mate, before doing anything to drastic chack and clean all the pipes surrounding the oil breather i had the same problem with mine and that's what it was

normally smoke on a cold start up means the valve stem seals are worn

if the rings were worn i'd imagin it'd smoke constantly, larger amount of smoke depending on the more badly worn they are.

i had a problem with my old frst, only smoked if it came on boost then you backed off the throttle, would get a cloud of smoke out the back, oil seal in the turbo was goosed, new turbo on it and problem went away
