Default MX5? Anyone familiar with them?

My cousin is after an MX5 and is just wondering what he can do tuning wise and what sort of power/performance he can expect.

He's after the 1.6 Eunos roadster.

Any advice would be appreciated, cheers

Rainbow flag paint and Ronal Teddy rims are what every MX5 owner wants isnt it? (apart from starring in the next series of The Salon and sucking on Beckhams piece, obviously )

Get a 1.8 model then he has the option of turboing it with a ready made hks kit. You can bring the power up to around std cossie spec quite easily and the car will be a hell of a lot quicker due to weight. Obviously you can go further will low comp pistons, head work. you can add the link system ecu and a large front mount intercooler.

Nah seriously tho mate, theres a LOT of stuff for em for the 1.6, mainly involving turbo conversions (and some supercharged ones too), more stuff for the 1.6 than the 1.8 actually....

HKS/Trust both do bolt on turbo conversions that give a good 200bhp+ on std 1.6 internals, and companys like Tein and Cusco do tons of suspension and Diffs for em.

And as im EXTRA clever, check this out...

http://www.flyinmiata.com/ the big MX5 tuners in the USA who sell everything under the sun (dont forget exchange rate is nearly 2dollars to a quid now! )

http://www.greenline.jp/catalogue/bc...6CEA&intake=NA this is Greenline Motorsport, qualirty cheap as fuck people for getting parts direct from Japan, i deal with them a lot and they spot on They sell 3 different turbo conversions for the 1.6, inc a quite mental trust one with external wastegate for 3k or the most basic one which IIRC is good for 200bhp for only 670quid!
