I borrowed a mates PS3 to watch our wedding video on Blu-Ray. When we first got it, there was no HD cable so we just used it to watch the normal DVD. Then I managed to get hold of an HD cable so we watched the Blu-Ray version and all was fine. Last week our pesky kittens pulled the AV cable out of a drawer and they chewed it a bit, not through the wire or anything but it's covered in teeth marks. So I went out and bought a new AV cable and yesterday when I tried it nothing. The PS3 is on and seems to be working but nothing comes up on the screen, I tried the old AV cable and exactly the same. Any ideas as I'm meant to give it back to my mate tomorrow? I tested the AV sockets on the TV used our Wii and that worked fine so I'm guessing it's a problem with either the PS3 itself or the AV cable.

Any help and all suggestions welcome!

when you turn it on hold the button in till it beeps again sorted

 

plug in the lead and keep the power button pressed for about 6 secs will then pick it up

Yeh your PS3 is still trying to use the HDMI cable, it just needs telling to use a normal AV cable.
