Mine went for 3 years without a fault then I got the red rings, got a kit for £5 off ebay, spent 2 hours stripping and cleaning it out and doing the repair and its been fine for 6 months so far with a lot of use.

No denying he PS3 is a more reliable unit, I just dont rate it as highly as the 360 for gaming and I was a MASSIVE Playstation fan in the past

my xbox got the ring of death last month,and it doesnt get alot of playing!

 

I'm on my 4th xbox and i put my games on the HD, it's a right pain in the bollocks. and asda only give you a 28 day warrenty after this it's back to xbox europe for the fix.

 

What old argument? I think we all know the Ps3 is quite a lot more reliable than the Xbox even if both do go wrong. The debate is always about what is best not really reliability.

I voted for Xbox owner and it has gone wrong.

 

I'm on my third PS3, first one broke the day after I got it home, wouldn't read the games, second one stalled during an update and wouldn't load past 20%, so now I'm on my third, all within a 12 month period.

My bro has got an Xbox and he's had the ring of death AND a faulty disk drive that scratched the shit out of games.

Believe it or not, consoles arn't meant to be played on for hours on end at a time

Even after my own experiences though, I still think the PS3 is the more reliable of the 2, most of my friends have never had a problem with theirs.

I had the debate before i bought my console last year. XBOX or PS3. I ended up choosing an xbox due to me being able to download games and burn em to disc, download Hi-Def films and stick em on an 8gb USB stick and watch em, and the fact I could play all my old xbox games on it still. Went out and bought a 2nd hand unit with a flashed dvd drive. Cost me 100 with two controllers and a fair few (cough cough) games. Worked great for months and months of heavy usage. Then one day the colours started going funny on screen. Googled the problem and its heat that kills these things. They get hot and they fuk up. Mine died and wouldn't give off a picture. At all. I've had it in bits and fitted new heat sink screws & thermal grease, got a picture on screen but colours are still a bit fecked. I've found that if i press hard on the heatsink (when switched on) the colours go ok, so just got to find some fine adjustment of the screws to sort it.

PS3 - reliable, but as per most sony ideas - expensive.
XBOX - unreliable BUT! cheap fun & good to mod, have a bash at repairing lol. (kinda like a ford.. lol) - they are good when they work......

i did have a xbox 360 untill he red light cum up and fu*ked up a load of games

 

dust is a killder on the ps3

I have a 360, Ps3, and pc.
only had the 360 for a few weeks, but iirc the later models aren't so suseptable to breaking? Had the PS3 for over a year now, never let me down. PC? It destroys both of them at everything! (except breaking )

 

dont even make me start posting the benchmark results up we all know ATI is out infront

 

the 5 series cards yes. but i've always found games play better on nvidia cards.

i know alot of xbox owners that have suffered the ring of death or whatever its called lol. my ps3 has been great.

 

there is no argument. everyone knows the xbox breaks down more than a ps3 but has better games selection than the ps3.

 

iv got 2 360s and both have had the ring of death the 3 rings and 4 rings now my elite dis drice is on the blink any ideas???

 

i use to be an nvidia fan the last one i had was the BFG 7900GTX which was good, but in the last few years ive switched to the ati as i deffo think they have the advantage imo, just got the overclocked xfx 4870 HD 1024mb

 

had ps3 from launch 60gb gets used constantly as i have play tv for it and it still going strong

 

Did you read in the news that any chiped xbox you wont be able to use online anymore

 

I do wonder if these consoles are deliberately made to fall apart just outside warranty to make them extra money the greedy cunts

Except they obviously got the calculations a bit wrong with do many breaking so new

Corporate greed in action!!

 

Why thou! It only damages the brand name and it actually costs them more to make and sell a console!
