Hi, my S2 should be of the road soon after a bottom end and head rebuild, after shelling out over £1000 in the last 4 months, i was wondering what the best oil to use while i run it in, then after i run it in what oil to use.

I have sum Mobil 1 5-50w Rally synthetic oil at work which i can get for a fiver for five litres cause its discontinued at my work, not sure if its ok?

Car will be low comp running 21 psi, etc etc.

 

mineral oil for running in , then whatever you want once its run in

 

Yea I heard it is best to use crap oil to run in so it gets round everywhere properly then some good stuff later. Speak to "oilman" off here, he seems to know his stuff

 

Yea you can buy running in oil for the first 200 miles.

 

thought the running in was 1000miles!!

and £1000 seems a good price for a full rebuild!

 

Yeah done most of the head myself, pistons were most of the money!

In total with parts gonna be close to £1300 though
