I know this is probably a pointless question as no doubt it varies depending on who you get the chip off, but just wondered what it should be mapped to, had a go at running my car at 2 bar yesterday and it seemed perfectly happy, no pinking or anything and it went like snot, but just wondered if this is likely to be off the end of my "330 bhp" chip or not?

I wound the fuel pressure up a load to compensate, lol

I only took it up to about 4500rpm or so and only in short bursts, was just interested to see how it handled it.

I know the risks i was running potentially, but i am just about to fit a new turbo, new head gakset and new head studs anyway so figured i didnt have a lot to lose.

I'll behave from now on though, lol

I was well impressed at how well it seemed to handle it though, but i guess -1 degrees outside temp is a good way to avoid det.

yeah i know, hence i kept it in short bursts only to prevent heat building up in the pistons.

im really not advising anyone to go and do the same on their 330 chip

If you’re not very careful, it all ends in tears

Afternoon Chip,
Generally speaking, at std fuel line pressure a std T3 turbo on a YB will maintain a decent AFR at up to 24psi held to the limiter. A T3 map tails the fuel off from 5k as the peak efficiency envelope has been passed with that turbo and the power drops off, so this is your danger area with too much boost. A T34 or larger will obviously drop this boost figure slightly whilst making more power. A real T34 map also wont start to lean at 5K as the peak power is now higher.

On my own T3 std YB chips i recommend the boost be set to peak at around 25 and hold around 22.This gives a good air fuel ratio margin and helps to control ACT's on the std intercoolers. Merry Xmas.

lol, relax everyone, car got a few bursts of not more than 5 seconds and is now back down to a sensible level.

i was just curious at how far it was likely to be mapped simply cause it seemed to run so well.

Perfect mate thats the sort of info that i was after.

If i get you to do me a live mapped chip what sort of boost can i run then on greens and a t34?

Hopefully wont need anything like 30psi to make good power on that turbo!

By the way, in case anyone was wondering why i was even bothering doing this, im intending to use the old turbo on my 2.0 16v turbo mini as it should be ideal for that as i dont need much over 300bhp off nitrous as it will be so rare i have the need to run any more power than that due to the weight of the car (600kgs ish)

So just wanted to see what the turbo was capable of, pretty impressed to be honest!

Come on chip, you of all people should kjnow its pointless screwing a tiny turbo to bursting point from a power point of view! It will probably be just as quick at the proper boost and fuelling setup!

phil i know mate!
ive just bought a t34 for it, i was just purely seeing what i could get out of the old one to know if it was good enough for the mini or not, as that will only ever be used in short bursts anyway, and this way i have a turbo FOC that i can use, and if it isnt good enough can always upgrade to a t34 on the mini too once i have the manifold etc to suit.

like i said i am NOT recomending anyone do the same!
