I've had a couple of 911 (997) GT3 RS's and an R8 at work, but they were only just moved around, not taken out on the road...
Probably the quickest/most powerful thing I've driven on the road was a 380/400hp Supra, I picked up for a customer, took it to work (12miles) and then back again. Got on the motorway doing 40, nailed it, within literally seconds it was doing 140, lost my bottle with it at 155 (GPS indicated)
Most expensive ever driven was a McLaren SLR - but like the GT3 RS's and R8, I only drove it about 0.2 of a mile

driven my self would probably be Lee's track clio cup 172 on track only due to extremeness of the ride and whole experience lol!!! (including uncomfortable seats)
being a passenger- would be Dingy's

Not the fastest, but one of the most extreme was one of those 2.0 zetec formula ford cars at rockingham. most fun I had in years. diagonal 4 spd shift and hardly any clutch. fookin loved it. no idea what speeds I was doing but it was quicker than anyone else.
lamborghini mercielago, however ya spell it, i worked for a company called pvs cars in spalding, the boss has a ferrari and a bentley gt, i used to drive all the cars that where for sale, including new rolls royce phantoms, alsorts, here's his website. www.pvscars.co.uk
For me, it would have to be either the BMW 730Li V10 (or V12 can't remember) that belonged to a Director of Orange (the Phone company) or the Jaguar XK-R (Supercharged version) that we have had in work for panel repairs.
The Jag with all that power and no traction control
The BMW is just such smooth and effortless power that just propels over 2 tonne of car so easily.

this, belongs to my old gaffer's best buddy, along with 6 other prancing horses, they really are stripped out, no carpets, and a bit of string to open the doors inside!!

998cc Mini with slick tyres on in the wet
What an experience!
Fastest car i've driven was a 400bhp RWD saph, but the most brutal was my Pulsar without a doubt. So violent off the line it was untrue.

For me 3 cars
Jag xjr -12 silk cut lemans winner down the jag drive at the old Radford engine plant
Jag xjs v12 7 ltr with warrior heads 5 valve per cyl 700hp
and xj220 down the a45 at silly speeds in the 80s
I loved working for the Jag back then
Still get to drive the supercharged xkrs xfr and the new xj replacement daily on the test track.
