Default Radiator sizes & engine power.

Just looking at engine pictures from friends cars, one is 200bhp n/a and the other is 205bhp Supercharged. The supercharged car has a radiator thats alot smaller, but the engine is only 1300cc, the car on carbs is 2000cc and has a larger radiator, but neither have problems with cooling.

The smaller radiator is thicker, but not by much. How can the charged car get away with running a smaller rad when surely it would run hotter than the N/A car? Or does it have something to do with engine cc?

N/A Zetec with 200bhp @fly

Supercharged 1.3 swift with 205bhp @fly

Cheers!

I might be wrong but looks to me like the charged car is running 2 rads, the smaller rad piped to the bigger front mounted one.

Runs one radiator (smaller out the two) and an intercooler at the front.

Picture of intercooler and radiator behind it.

because there's a lot more too it than just basic radiator area. the core efficiency, thickness, pressure drop, air flow, coolant flow rate, thermal efficiency of the engine etc, etc.

the suzuki would have been designed for the asian market where temperature and humidity are much different to europe and cooling systems need to cope. doesn't really change things these days are vehicles are designed for a global market generally, but they weren't back when that ford was designed.

not forgetting that the suzuki has an oil cooler as well

The rad in the Fiesta is an aftermarket one, not sure which but not standard size. Same as the Swift rad, thats an aftermarket one, but almost the same size as standard.
