Default PC - TV No sound?

Hi all, i'm trying to hook my pc up to my tv which was fairly straight forward until it came to getting the sound to work. Now been no techno buff I thought if I just hoked the pc through a hdmi cable to the tv all would work but nothing ever seems simple when I touch Electrical things and no sound soon became a problem.

Now hopefully this will be a simple thing to sort out with the help of you guys on here.

I'll list what ports I have spare on the equipment i'm using and if anyone can help in would be fantastic!

O.k so here goes.

Pc Spare ports - SPDIF OUT, 1 x Optical, 5 x 3.5mm speakers outs, 1x mic and plenty of usb's

TV spare ports - 3.5mm PC/DVI Audio in AND 2 X HDMI

AMP - 2 x Coaxil in and a scart

Now i've tried a lead from one of the Pc jacks to the TV audio in but didn't get anything which puzzled me but hey I wasn't suprised to say the least.

Chris

you need a cable from your 'sound out' on the back of your pc to your cinema system. visuals and sound are split on a pc, seperate cables are needed.

why not run the hdmi to your amp and then the optical out to your amp and let the connection from your amp to the tv do the rest?

My AMP doesn't have optical to make this work I don't think :S

I'm not even bothered if I only get sound through the tv just something would be nice.
