mk2 Sierra with a Sapphire speedo
looking at getting a Sapphire instrument cluster (with a rev counter) into my Sierra. The car it's coming from is an 1800cvh and the car its going in to is a 1600 Pinto, will this work?
I can't see any reason why not but i'd like to know 100% just incase it doesn't and i'm stuck with something i don't need

As you are changing for a tacho one, yes it will work fine as both use a conventional coil, if one had been coilpack the tacho would read wrong, that's the only thing you need to watch, wiring 99.9% sure is the same, thin green wire is the tacho feed to the clockset if you want to just check yours has a feed there in the connector.

i fired it in today after going out to buy one and everything bar the rev counter works. Is there a simple solution ie. a wire swap for this or am i gubbed?
Also the speedo bounces 10mph either side of the speed i'm going past 30mph, is this a problem with the instrument cluster or has it been me when i attached the cable?

The bouncy needle is a tight cable, try and re route to a smooth run as possible, or even take out and oil the inner cable.
Check to see if you have a thin light green wire in the connector on the rear of the clocks.

if it is an azura/base spec car it may not have the wiring, and its a case of looking up in your friendly haynes manual. iirc its the green wire from the coil to the speedo and goes to pin 7 on the clocks.

Run a green wire from the coil - to the rear of the rev counter, via the connector, easiest way is just go to scrappy and cut off a connector that has it, take out the individual pin terminal and put in same position on your connector.
