Over the years i collect a lot of stuff, so i have spare RSi head and complete spare engine. Which iam rebuilding at moment, here some pictures of the lose head i have

Complety resprayed, cleaned and flatten and everything is measured if it still within the marges
it looked like this

At the beginning of january I began with my spare complete engine, it was stored for many years and after I Bought it in 2010. I thought it would be time to start with this engine

first i cleaned the outside with high presure washer then i stripped it back to this

So then it was time to bring the head away to the company which will check the head etc.

and time to paint some of the parts

exhaust in high temp paint

All of the parts are looking great!
Is the gearbox you have restored a genuine RS1600i?
Has yours got the hole for the ignition sensor in the housing?
Would you mind posting some more photos of it from different angles as I am trying to identify my gearbox.
Keep up the good work

Thxs for reply mate.
Dont know exactly if its an original RSi box but on the early type number of 81TT and the way the sensor hole is drilled i should think its an original one.

Because the gearbox which was in my own car the hole is drilled in XR3(i) box afterwards. I have no picture of that at the moment or it have to be in my other topic

Thanks for the photo. You are very helpful. I have two gearboxes. One has extra webbing which i think means its s1 turbo but would like to make sure.
There is a way you can check for sure that you have an original gearbox. Take the end cover off to reveal 5th gears. I have reference to the number of teeth on each gear. 5th gear was unique to rs1600i. All you have to do is count the teeth. James
