Default ST24 hesitation?

Hi all,

my mate called, he said his 'R' reg ST24 has hesitation when he accelerates, like it is holding back or not firing properly.

I haven't been in the car to see exactly what it feels like but can anyone suggest the most likely cause?

Thanks

Matt

Could be the inlet manifold runner control dude. Thats what opens up the secondries in the inlet, quite a common problem. Also come across the idle speed control valve "mooning"

Ye thats it dude,Ive known a few ST's to need them. They pack up due to the heat from the engine so alot of people relocate them to under the battery

sorry, missed you inbetween post.

if it is playing up will a relocation solve it or will it be a case of a new one?

If new, are they costly and hard to fit??

Cheers

Matt

If its packed up then I would say you need a new one but Id relocate it when you go to fit it. Piece of piss to replace dude.

Hi, my dad had the same trouble with his and was told by fords after a diagnostic that it could either be the cat's knackered or the imrc valve as stated above. but they prone to head gasket failure, does it make any funny ticking noises on pull away?

Im sure its about Ł150 at ford but that might be fitted. You should be ok with a second hand one, mine on my ST is the original one and has covered 100k so they last quite well. Id go for a used one personally
