Default spare a thought this christmas to....

well some of us will have great xmas some will not but just think when you are round the table with ur family/friends/loved ones etc that there are people out there homeless outside in the cold and on there own

it makes ya think sometimes we all take things for granted at times, they prob once was doing wot you and i are doing now but for one reason or another have fallen on hard times.

I know alot of people wont agree, just my opinion

I think this country does to much for others and not enough for its own.

I second the above comments - I'm all for charity and helping others, but rather than keep dishing out detached houses with cable TV to border jumpers and illega imigrants - how about we give the homes to our own, British born homeless???

Not being racist with the "British born" comment - what I mean is these are our own people, ones who have probably paid british taxes at one point or another - surely we have an obligation to help them before we give away houses to complete strangers from a complete different country

One thing I heard on the news a couple of days ago really made me smile - or at least it did untill I heard the last bit of it tho...

The Millenium Dome - which spend most of every year empty but costs tax payers a QUARTER OF A MILLION POUNDS PER MONTH in security etc, has been opened up over christmas for sheltering the homeless - so they can go there sleep in a bed, get hot food and there are even "morale" classes designed to boost homeless peoples confidence and teach em basics for manual labour jobs like plumbing, building etc...

This is all for free too - the loan of the dome, the volunteer's - spending christmas day and the other days at the dome to care for the homeless - the food is free etc...

But they are not allowed to be there past midnight on the 30th Dec

In fact they have been told if the premesis is not vacated by everyone and all trace of them even being there (rubbish cleared etc) and they are there for even 1 minute past midnight then they (the charity group) will be charged £1000 PER HOUR till they have cleared up and gone!

That is outrageous!!!!! FFS these peeps are giving their time fore free to help others!

So these poor homeless folk get a nice bed and hot food - then on the 30th they are basically told "there you go, now fook off back out in the cold for new years, sorry"

Unbeliveable.... It's not even like xmas is the coldest time of year - Jan and Feb are much colder! This dome is never used - so why not let it be a free shelter area run by volunteer's!?!?!?!?

Fucking government stinks if you ask me....

Strange if you ask me there was a story about earlier this year saying it was gonna be used athletics??
Theres a million uses for that dome.
Fingers need to be pulled out of arses

I've fortunately never had to do that as a result of circumstances Stu - tho I have done it through choice once! It wasa charity thing when I was at school, where you live like them for a day and a night and get sponsored for it, and the money goes to charity. Of course it weren't real - we were supervised, all had sleeping bags etc, and weren't really "on the streets" bla bla - but I do know how cold and miserable it can be, so I can sympathise(sp)

the priorties this govenrment/country has are all wrong, allways has been and always will be. there too busy trying to keep themselves looking good to other countries , trying to look like one of the strongest powers in the world.

that to them is what keeps there jobs, its totally irrelevent what the people in the country think, as long as they look good all over the world

what was that , earthqauke in iveneverevenheardofthiscountry , yes how much do you want, £20,000,000,000 in cash not a problem ,we;ll even fly it out to ya and as a good measure we'll send you a shit load of food and supplies for YOUR homless.

now dont get me wrong , yes there are parts of the world who are hard hit, and yes ther are people starving accross teh world, but at least look at your own country 1st , if we even spent half teh amount we give a way on aid to ther countries on ours we could practically irradicate a good 80% of our own homless people problems, build them shelters, pay for them food , we wouldnt even need volunteers , we'd have enough money to pay them ffs so they could get these people back into living a resonable lifestyle earning money , then paying back what it cost to do this in the 1st place, but no , the govenment want to look good and fast , big paypackets for fook all work

of couse there will always be teh one who want to stay homless amd live rough , but at least give them teh choice, whereas now they have no choice

just my little bit

Couldnt agree more with each comment. The bloody politicians need to be made to sleep rough for a couple of weeks just so they know what its like.Thats half the problem innit? They are out of touch with society and what we think. We sadly are a nation of "cant be bothered to get off our asses" and let them ride all over us.they let immigrants in,raise our taxes, tell us to stop smoking, binge drinking,over-eating,but if we did they would lose out in tax wouldnt they?Fookin hypocrites who can never tell the truth.

Deffo agree with you gaz, I also spared a thought for those who were in hospital away from their loved ones, and since I was unfortunate enough to arrive at the scene of an accident on the 24th in the afternoon (two cars collided face to face), I was feeling for the unlucky ones who had all this bad luck at this time of the year.
Luckily, there were no serious injuries.

i read in the local paper recently that the goverment are goin 2 start payin 4 doleys to have drivin lessons so it make it easyer to get a job coz they would b able to travel further. but then they gonna need a car to make it worth while. so if the goverment pays 4 there driving lessons buys them a car + insurance etc. & they probably already got a house/flat then why would they bother gettin a job. we should b helpin people who NEED help (ill people & homeless people) not just lazy money seekin fookers & imigrants. labour sucks but then again so do the torys

I'm sure most homeless just want a chance to do something for themselves. That's what most third-world countries poor want: A CHANCE.

I hear y'all. I aint lived anywhere permanently for nearly 4 years, all my own doing. Lived out of the car for 2 months, Feb-Apr. But i've ALWAYS got up off my dirt box and dealt with my problems, and never sought benefits of any description (in my circumstances, i don't believe it's necessary).
My solution (or 'band aid) to the problem, is to try and help out those around me as best i can, that way, i help to make this ball of dirt a better place, F@#k laws, people need morals....
