what rear bumper on Mk2 Sierra?
looking to change the rear bumper of my Mk2 Sierra, the one on it doesn't look right with a Sapphire front end and Sapphire rubbing strips up the side. What is best to fit? Its a Mk2 5-door (non-XR model), a Saph rear will be too long but will an RS500 one fit/look right?
edited to add: Does a Saph bumper fit? It looks marginal from pics but i had a feeling it would be slightly too long

i take it you have the rear bumper with a big thick rubbing strip on it then?
if so, pull it off as its only stuck on, then it will leave 2 small slots on the side of the bumper, fill these and paint them
you will then have a mk2 bumper looking like a saf one

had a look at the rear bumper there and the big black strip is molded into the bumper.
I may just re-paint it and change the chrome strip for a black one unless there's another option

ah you have a late spec rear bumper then, nly has 1 number plate light?
if so look for a xr4x4 mk2 rear bumper with twin rear lights or if you can fnd a g plate xr4x4 as these dont have the big running strips on them

Dojj, i wasn't sure about the Estate and hatch but knew the Saph would be wrong, didn't realise about the estate
Remember the strip that goes between the lights and bumper. They are different between long nose and short nose.
Also, if the car has headlight wipers the strip will have holes and wee trims. If you have headlight wipers the slot to cut out is marked on the back of the plain ones, but the trims will be hard to find so be careful when you cut. A Dremel does a nice job.

XR4x4RS above has a Sapphire Cosworth bumper and bonnet on his car - that bonnet has the short nose and is found on Sapphires and (I think) diesel models).
Non-Cosworth models don't have the vents on the bonnet, and have different, non-recessed, radiator grills and different bumpers - the ones with foglights have them mounted further down and they don't get silver trims around them.

Sierra hatchbacks mostly have the long-nose bonnet where the front edge continues down between the headlights to meet the raisied section of the filler strip.

(Apologies to whoever for borrowing these pics off Google)

ah thanks for clearing that up i literally has no idea the bonnet lengths differed. well explained mate and thats good to know!
mine actually has the long-nose hatchback bonnet with the continuous 'grille' down between the headlights.
so i guess the saph front end wouldn't fit then

The bonnet fits so long as you get the grill and strip to match.
If U want a Cosworth grill you need to trim some of the plastic from the headlights.
The Cosworth bumper is a straight swap but can look wrong with the raised bit of strip above it in the middle.
