hello all after some advice on the s1, ive owned this car 12 years and it has never killed a plug till i recently did a zvh conversion

It now seems to kill plugs randomly and this is always while it is just ticking over and has never done it whilst driving normally.
Ive done the usual new dizzy cap rotor arm etc and it still likes killing plugs after about 5 mins of ticking over from cold and has done it on 1,2 and number 3 cylinder.
I know it is running too rich on idle but was trying to wait till i get it set up till ive done a 1000k, would running rich on idle kill plugs?, it starts fine and runs pretty good considering it needs a set up, i drove it to national day and back and it never missed a beat then started it up the next day in the garage and after 5 mins down to 3 again and a plug has died.
Any advice welcome as ive never come across this before and just want peeps opinions on whether it is just down to needing setting up or should i be looking at something else.
Car is still on mfi
cheers
