Default End of Iraq combat operations

Just watching this service on tv and there's two things bothering me:

1) Have i missed the announcement that today is the end of combat ops, or is it something that's been decided spur of the moment?

2) Not one fucking politician there is fit to clean the boots of even the lowest ranking squaddie who is currently serving, or has served in Iraq or Afghanistan.
I fail to see what gives them the right to even be there and it brings up the bile from the back of my neck that these cunts are even mentioned in the same sentence, in the same context as our boys who risk life and limb on a daily basis.

I do not support the fact that our government decided to pander to the States and enter into what i consider to be illegal wars. But i always have and always will support our troops doing their bit for queen and country, and i personally feel this service should have been forces only.
That's my two pence worth anyway

And what was the reason we invaded again? Pray tell anyone? Something about rockets getting to us in 45 minutes wasn't it? Because of the evil dictator? (Plenty left of them in the world at the moment)

And this warmonger is going to be President of Europe? Good grief.

Exactly! That's what everyone's saying I think.
It's a memorial service to mark the end of "combat operations" in Iraq. I would imagine this to mean "policing and peacekeeping" operations will continue for the forseeable future though

All operations are moving to Qatar I believe to be run from there. There has certainly been a build up over the last few weeks of squaddies roaming Doha looking for a beer

Maybe now that they have a huge US base their, and a nice secure pipeline running through the country to Afghanistan... oh wait...
