Default do rally cars need handbrake cables?

does any one know what the mot rules are for this ,i did a rally in my new car last week end , and the scrutineer asked where are the handbrake cables? it of course runs a vertical hydraulic set up with no attachments on the lever or the ap racing calipers, the car has been used for the last 3 years as a rally car on national events and its never been a problem, so when the scrutineer shows me the msa blue book to prove that it should have them, it didnt actually say 'cables' it just says something about it has to meet MOT requirements?, 'and how would a new car pass that has an electronic hand brake i asked', he said ' thats a good question, i dont know' . so does any know what the current rules are , cos it would be a pain in the arse to put hand brake cables on.

i think the reason he askes is people often build rally cars in sheds and stuf needs to meet MOT standard so that it is safe. also if it runs under the car i think it needs to be inside, so that its not damaged

All rally cars must have a mechnical parking brake.....the scruts are pulling all of us, I've got two cars to do ASAP....inc my own car....

I have been designing/making a new handbrake arrangement for the car i'm on building at the moment.......

A loop through the rear pads and some cables off a suitable donor vehicle usually provides enough to satisfy the scruits.....

Pic of the new ones i'm doing....cable runs under the car and terminates via an M6 rod in the block on the lower front portion of the lever...

its not pre '68, unfortunately, the master cylinder does have 4 pipes coming out of it and not 2, does that make any difference?

The 4 connections just mean it has a standard split rear braking system (group N) car arrangement....it will still need cables pal....what calipers are on it? can you post a pic of the lever?

The hand brake you have in the pic is designed to run cables as well as hydraulic...cable runs round on the pulley and a threaded bar goes through the square section....
