Default Whatever happened to?????

The old Severn Valley RST?

Did this car ever produce the 300bhp off a cvh? (think it was 300bhp and cvh in the same sentence

Bearing in mind this was the 90's that i remember it

Also what was the quickest it done a QTR mile in?

Anyone know?

I saw something here recently about them and apparently they have a different name and are a more run of the mill garage and MOT place.

the RS turbo was red and was supposed quickest 1600 cvh turbo at the time, also built a BTCC style transit on centrelock dymags and 500bhp yb, thundersaloon style 3dr, also built a race escos which i think is the one Andy Lloyd has/had ???

I was at york the day he lobbed 1.5 seconds of his best 1/4 mile time, he never got near it again, 11.99 IIRC, I saw the run and it looked no quicker than the rest of his runs IMO

the red severn valley rst was owned by a bloke called alwyn IIRC
that transit he (kevan kemp) built was awsome M550PUJ is it still about?
remember it lashing past everything at national day 1998

The black S2 which ran with the plate SVM 286 was owned by a guy called Rob Edmands. The car was absolutely immaculate and made a genuine 286bhp from an 8V CVH (I have been witness to the power run to prove it).

The car was sold a few years ago to someone who basically mistreated it, abused it, then decided to blow it up in style, one main component after another from lack of knowledge and sympathy. Was last seen in one of the breakers yards in Gasoline Alley near Ashford, Kent. Is a shame in a way as it was a genuine 1 owner car which had never been abused and was garaged all its life, never seeing rain unless it had to. I still have quite a few of the original "as new" parts from it in my loft where he would buy spares of things "just in case".

All above were right, always remember the jacked up rear end.

Some blast from the past cars, also remember the Yellow KA, some silly power Zetec with Puma headlights (silly power back in the day mind)

Did that RST really do a 11.99?

one guy that was working with me said his son had taken his rs turbo there and thay turned the boost up so much it put a hole in th block of it as he got about 6 mile from where thay were, i ended up selling his son my engine that was spare

Firstly, sorry to all for grave digging so comprehensively, but I have only JUST stumbled across this thread and am now quite fascinated.

Just wondering Ian, where did you glean this tale from Sir?
It's quite an intriguing story and i'd like to know the source/origin of such a detailed and riveting little yarn.

Cheers in advance.

From 1st hand experience of the car . SVM 286 was not its true number plate, just the one Severn Valley put on for the magazine and I will not give out the original plate, firstly because the original owner would not want me to, and secondly because I can no longer remember it.

Why your interest?

Morning Ian. Thanks ever so much for your incredibly swift response. A sight quicker than mine eh

The main reason for my interest is that I have known the old girl since 1992 and am rather fond of her.

Rob bought the car brand new, as a birthday present to himself for his 23rd birthday, from Bristol Street Motors in Bromley, in Kent/SE London in October of 1989 when they were knocking them out for Ł12,999.00 including a year's free fully comp insurance.

Rob was a good friend of mine and I helped him with the car in various capacities and on many occasions over a period of years.
I watched it evolve from a pleasant, nippy little car with as little as 135ish hp through various guises and stages (engine, brake, tyre/wheel, suspension and ancillary wise) via various tuners, engineers and specialists, into a fair old beast and when it reached the heady heights of it's big power fame around 1997/98.

I bought the car from Rob, shortly after it's last transformation & improvements under his ownership and am the second owner of the car.

I have owned her for fourteen years now and have always kept her garaged.
The car has never in this period of time, blown up, lost any parts, or seen the inside of a breakers yard.

It still starts on the button. It still goes like the clappers. It still smells like a new car inside and still puts a smile on my face.

She is presently sat sulking in my garage, awaiting a wash, a brake fluid change and a fresh set of gear box bearings (just for a change, lol).

So, as i'm sure you can understand, I was pretty interested and not a little confused regarding your previous post.

So any further light you could shed on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers and all the best, Jim.

Do you still live in Sidcup? I was told by 2 people about the state of the car and saw by my own eyes what looked identical to that car in Gasoline Alley. If what you are saying is true, Rob will be over the moon about it. Am I able to see it one day?

I do Ian. Not seen Rob in years.

Last I heard he was moving to France years ago.

Is he in the UK do you know?

Shame about the other black one

I wonder which one it is now and if it was another Severn Valley car.

Incidentally, i'm not driving her at the mo as I am in a bad way and am awaiting back surgery.

I hope it happens this summer and soon so I can recuperate, get another job and start driving the RS again.

Are you in touch with Rob at all?

Have we ever met?

Glad I could be the bringer of good tidings btw.
