You will not be able to check for an earth at the injectors. There should be 12v with the ignition on. The earth is done at the ecu. Check the wires from injector to the ecu is ok and all the ecu earths are good. There are a few of them, don't know the pin numbers though.

Sounds like a chip/ecu problem.

Is the chip/ECU a known quantity - i.e have you just bought it or has it been running on the car before?

the injectors will only have a -ve when the ECU is firing them.. so it will be switched off when the car is off. and switching like mad when the car is on/cranking.

Has the loom been messed about with ?
I have seen it once, where a numpty when taping up a loom mixed up the no2 injector connector with the iscv connector, and these were transposed, as they are exactly the same length from inside the loom insulation.
Net result was fuel actually pissing out of the join between turbo and trousers, and running on three, easy fix after I found it.
I thought naturally this was a ecu fault, but the penny dropped when asking owner.
No names though!!

Hughy - i'm still working for Stu part time these days pal

Personally, if you can, i'd try and borrow an ECU & Chip complete out of a friends car and substitute it for yours.

If that works, then whip the lids off and try swapping your chip into their ECU and test again.

Chattering of injector 2 is quite common on corrupt chips, obviously it's not the only cause, but may help you trace the fault to ECU, chip, daughterboard, loom etc. and make the repair cheaper and easier!

If you have a P8 or L8 then I would personally always recommend you run a knock sensor as it will give you a safety net. Some tuners chips run very close to the point of det and rely on the knock sensor to make sure it never causes any damage. It shouldn't be a big job to have the loom modified to accomodate a knock sensor!

Offer someone a drink and i'm sure they'll help you out A lot cheaper than buying new ECUs, board, chips etc.

£20 for a loom plug, or £65 for a pre wired one, that you will have to then fit your own injector plugs etc to.

i had one of ryans looms, that i ended up modding to fit. was easy enough to do tho, but the pins for the ecu plug had to be exact or they wouldnt push in the connector.

not had it mapped yet, but it has self tests and the coils fire and the injectors fire as i have done that lol

Yes, will start and run the car without the knock sensor no problem. But i'd recommend you install one prior to using the car hard!
