Taking into account mclaren are building a new factory and we have now launched the new car with thousands of people already wanting to place orders for it we assumed that everything was going to be good for the future of our jobs etc.

Well on wednesday we got a surprise meeting to tell us that due to the SLR finishing production in dec and the fact that no factory is as of yet built for the MP4-12C to be built it their gonna have to make 18 people in the paintshop and assembly line redundant

Worrying times as the gf is at college and most of my wages go towards the mortgage etc, just got to hope ive done enough over the last 4 1/2yrs to make me working being kept on!!

In hindsite its only a small amount, think theres just short of 100 people working in both departments but still a big shock for all of us.

 

get looking for new jobs NOW so that if the worst happens your already ahead of the game. You can always turn down any job offers you get if you dont get made redundant.

 

Fingers crossed mate. If you're working at mclaren you're obviously doing something right so should hopefully find another job should the worst happen

 

As above mate, Working for McLaren will look very good on a CV or job application. Try being self employed and being told on a Friday lunchtime that there is no more work for you! that is a propper kick in the balls mate, at least you have time on your side to find something. Best of luck
