Default Mk4 Escort estate customisation options.

Hi,

I have a 1988, 3 door, Ford Escort Estate, which is pretty much the combi van but with rear windows rather than panels.

Anyhoo, I am interested in popping on a RS kit but the overall length of the saloon is smaller than the estate, so does anyone know if theres an estate specific kit, or if its a retro fit job or what?

If its a retro fit, has anyone done it before or seen it done, do you know where the extra length is to be added etc?

Also, I am looking to get a small, spoiler just to increase the roof length over the rear window but I cant find anything.

Anyone know of one thats available, or what the best option would be regarding a retrofit for that?

I just want something like the standard rear spoiler on a MK2 Mondeo estate if anyone knows what that looks like. Nothing too flashy!

Cheers guys!

mate the wheel base on the estate and hatch are the same so you can fit a turbo kit, only the van has a longer wheel base

the wheelbase on the estates is the same as said above, the estates are slightly longer but the extra length is from the rear arches back so the rear bumper is about 3 or 4 inches longer

Cheers guys!

The standard rear bumper isnt any different from the RS one is it?

From what pics I have it looks pretty much the same, so I reckon I could get away with just the front and the sides.

Jonesy... Is your car lowered or just sitting on larger rims?

Ive got a set of 15's off my old Mondeo that I want to fit once I get the right size tyres on them, just wondering how you achieved your look.

Anyone got any tips on the spoiler?

Thanks again guys!

as jonsey has already said mate the rear bumper is longer than the hatch so no a rs or xr one wont fit
looking at the pic of jonesy's car it does look like it has been lowered,
rear spoilers for the estate/combi are very rare so it would be a case of making custom one.

Yeah just grab yourself a series 1/2 kit and front bumper then plastic prime and paint your original rear to match if not already colour coded that is,had nightmare with mine recently regarding back bumper but thats because mine is MK3

Iv never been sure how much mine had been lowered by but looking at this with the same size tires id guess mine is around 40mm as well, which is good to know as iv found a new suspension kit which comes with 40mm springs

Nice...

Now I know what to expect with 15s.

Ive got 15inch Mondeo alloys rather than steel wheels to go on but other than that, mine looks in pretty much the same condition from the outside.

Mine is even in the same obscure shade of blue
