Default RS mk1 suspension knock

Im getting a knocking coming from the drivers side of my mk1 Focus RS. After getting it up on ramps the suspension was all tight with no obvious knocks. Everything was where it was supposed to be. It only happens over bumps and its starting to really piss me off.

Could it be the shock absorber as thats where it sounds like its coming from? Any ideas?

Any help is appreciated as I want to get to the bottom of it.

Cheers
Grant

get a crow bar or big screwdriver and see if theres any play in the suspension area. could just be a worn bush. i had this on a clio an it turned out to be a worn ball joint though

Suspension top mounts?
Drop links?
Lower suspension arms?

Just a few things worth checking if you haven't already .

Anti roll bar drop links worn.
Steering rack loose on the subframe.
Anti roll bar loose on the subframe.
Subframe loose on the body.
Suspension knuckle to shock absorber pinch bolt loose.
Lower arm to bottom of knuckle pinch bolt loose, new bolt recommended if it is this.

Cheers mate never thought about the steering rack. Will have to get it up on the ramps again.
