Cant really decide between the 2

Had 2 Vag TDI's being 130 bora (awsome) and passat 100 tdi, its meant to be going tonight to a new owner

Seen a 2003 TDCI 115 mondeo graphite with 70k and looks mint tbh and has me thinking about it tbh, Previous ghia x i had was sooo comfy and nice to drive where as the passats not quite as nice a place to be.

Vags are solid but certainly not perfect as some on the vag forums like to think, they have there issues aswell


Whats yer opinions and TDCI issues like, i did hear about dodgy injectors on early models etc ect

Ford TDCI's can have issues with injectors as you say and the dual mass flywheel can be an issue on higher milages and costs a fair bit to replace, although you can get 'normal' clutches as direct replacements.

Specifically to the Mondeos is rear bushes and rusty doors where the door skins were not sealed properly. Doors should have been done under warranty but I'm sure there are plenty that haven't been.

At that age you could find good or bad with either options but there are plenty about so look around and you'll find a good'un.

Yeah i know all about DMFs etc etc and general mondeo things as ive had 4 mondeos, just never a TDCI its only the engine im interested in tbh and is it as good a derv as a vag unit

Vags are no better in terms or DMF failure and such

 

VAG deffo mate, you know it.

Altho diesel Mondeo's are good.

 

Theres a Bora on scottishvag forum shorty, its a 90 remapped to 123 iirc

its poverty spec but has some nice touches, wheels, coilovers etc

Tempting but its only a 90 with a remap............never be teh 130 bora i had

Vags are too fuckin exspensive sometimes LOL


Even been toying with a mrk 3gti to mince about in till i find one i really want

 

Been looking at Golf PD150's recently... I drove a PD130 for a bit as a company car and it was brilliant, the 150 is meant to have a few choice upgrades I think and suppose you'd be close to 200bhp with a re-map which would make it quite a decent punchy drive without costing the earth to run.

I have a 130 mondy estate as my smoker

It goes better than the passat estate 08 130 hire car I had, although it sounds rougher, feels rougher, has a peakier power curve and gets less mpg.

Tis a good donkey though, and i'd have another no bother

 

Some of the tdci connects at my work sound a little rough right enough but they get a serious thrashing everyday

 

Sounds like a piece of agricultural machinery tbh in the cold, but it's not so bad on the inside.

I think a lot of them sound worse because of the bottom pulley rattle. As said, a bit rough but they go well for what they are.
