Its been subject to an insurance claim at some point, cat D is the very lowest end of the scale usually very light damage, paintwork, locks or stolen recovered.

Its the least serious write off, usually superficial damage or a car that wasn't worth much to start with.
It can be repaired and will only need an MOT to put back on the road.

Cat C has to be VIC checked.
Cat B can be used for parts only.
Cat A must be squashed.

HTH.

Well, I suppose you are right, but that also goes for any write off.

A cat D is the sort of thing you could repair with 2nd hand pannels or a cheaper repairer than the insurance company would insist on.
