Default Anyone tried a Owen developments 'T34 plus' yet??

Owen Developments (UK) Ltd is pleased to announce……….the launch of a significant new turbocharger for the Escort Cosworth YBT motor. Designed for use on the earlier ‘big turbo’ cars, Owen Development’s has taken the original plain bearing T34 unit and re-engineered it to incorporate a contemporary Garrett GT® ball bearing core assembly.
Use of the latest style of ball bearing core offers significant advantages in terms of spool-up and drivability compared to the original plain bearing unit. In addition, careful selection of larger compressor and turbine wheels – plus housings – has resulted in a turbocharger with a higher flow rate and 450bhp capability.
Ease of fitment is as assured as the Owen’s Garrett GT® ‘T34 Plus,’ because the unit is directly compatible with the original T34 oil and water coolant feed pipes, while the package includes a new braided oil feed hose.
The unit is directly compatible with original Garrett T34 mounting flanges, exhaust manifold, oil and water feeds and retains stock appearance due to use of T34 housings. It comes supplied with new braided oil feed pipe to ensure lubrication consistency and is available now at £1604.25 inc VAT and UK delivery.
More information from 01865 821 062 or via www.owendevelopments.co.uk ENDS.

Nice to see I'm not alone....... I read that and thought "uh huh, good, really, HOLY F*CK! (when i saw the price)" it does seem a bit steep when you can get a bigger one for less money, bit of a no brainer, depends on what your looking for i guess, it's definately something i'd consider, but not at that price.

It does sound good but rather expensive, plus you could buy a gt30 and tial external wastegate and have your pipework adapted/modified for roughly that kind of price.

edited to say... it would be nice to hear from anyone who has used this t34 though

Fuckin dear job for a t34 with a different bearing lol! Although it had to be said the owen developments cossie that's in the special gt's at combe does go rather well with apparently fairly lowish power (450-500bhp), don't know what turbo that runs though....

Way over the odds if you ask me. For that money I would be properly and neatly fitting a 3071.

Sounds exactly like a GT30 to me other than being slightly easier to fit.

If you put a GT30 into a T34 pair of housings, its likely to be very GT30 like after all.

This thread reminds me of all the roller bearing t4 vs GT35 argument threads that have been contested over the years.
