Default Big end shell trouble, Any ideas?

Taken number 3 piston out my block today as i thought the rings had gone. Well they havent,

got this instead

Number 3 shells,

Here is number 1

Number 2,

Number 4,

The number 3 was well fooked, the metal had gathered i the sump as a small lump.

Doesnt even fit the conrod anymore.

The annoying thing is, this engine was only put together 1000 miles ago

Any ideas of the cause? Oil Pressure was fine.

Possibly oil contamination, oil galleries obstruction or incorrect bearing to crank clearance?

Thats bad for 1000 miles. Did you get crank ground? Are the shells the correct size? Are they made for your engine not a lesser model?

The crank was ground at the same time and the shells came from the same place.

All the other journals are fine except number 3 which is fooked

Everything was cleaned merticulosly. The oil was the best for the job and the filter was changed at 100 miles and new oil, then again at 500 miles.

what size was the crank ground to? Chek the shells, make sure they were correct size. Failng that its possible oil starvation. Have you checked the oil pump?

The shells from number 1 and 4 dont look very good either, look like theyve been marked by the crank as its rotated, definitely not what i'd be expecting from a 1000 mile engine tbh! The shells from number 2 look very similar although its hard to tell with the amount of oil thats on them in the photo.

Havent had the pump off yet. So pissed off im on the verge of selling it/breaking it. Cant remember what it was ground to but the shells were correct for what they said they had ground it to. I remember it at the time.

Was the oil pump new? Are there any other signs of damage to anything else? What do the sides of the pistons look like?

Even if the crank had been ground and shells supplied, doesnt mean it had been done properly! or the shells were right....posability.

agree getting sold the wrong size happens alot even with an experienced engineer supplying and turns out to be an expensive headache.

Oil looks very emulsified, was it like that or is that just when it came apart?
