Default T25/T3/T28 question

Looking to buy a turbo for zetec turbo conversion, the T25 from S13 200sx is said to be good in combo with Focus RS manifold, using s13 injectors too.

They're cheap enough, but there's also the T28's from 200sx's as well. What differences are there between these, and how do they compare to an Escort RST T3 for example?

isn't that a little big for a 1.8 zetec?

I've just bought a pair of T25's from a 200sx. They both need rebuild but it's no biggie.

Anyone rate the kit's off ebay? was thinking along the lines of this one.

If the turbo doesn't have 360 thrust bearing at the moment can i rebuild it with one and benefit from quicker spool times and smoother boost?

And for the record, i got em for Ł25 including delivery and an actuator to modify, even though they need a rebuild they're a bargain.

Worst case scenario is i fix em up on the wall as ornaments!

The turbo's you're talkin about mate have little advantage over certainly a hybrid t3, they'll be snappy little turbo's but won't make massive power. If your budget can stretch to it a 'gt28' would be a good choice, they come with housings of various sizes so if you got the smallest housing the lag would be minimal too. What power are you trying to get out of the engine??

I'm not really after a power figure, i just want to build it and see what it makes, i'll be happy no matter what, and if there's less lag then that's better. That's why i thought of a smaller turbo.

1.8 zetec with FRS ex manifold (designed to work with T25), management, custom inlet (undecided yet), 2litre inlet cam (as recommended on here), maybe minor headwork depending on price. that's kinda the rough outline in my head.

Budget is the big one really with so much to spend on the rest of the car and not much spare cash around usually. Everything has to be cheap as chips, i know people bang on about budget for 1K or summat, but why not budget for everything to be as cheap as possible and i'll have more fun. a cab doesn't need big power.

To add, what injectors are recommended for the above setup?

the bloke who done mine originally used a T25 and he said it was a bit lame (although mine has to lug a big heavy mondeo around, if your using a small car the T25 might be OK), so then he fitted a Pulsar T28 and that does the bizz (although now i've replaced it with a hybrid turbo technics T28, very little lag and it pulls like a bastard apart from above 6k revs its not as blistering)

On my car i've modified the fuel rail to accept evo injectors....they flow plenty of fuel as a standard injector and easy to get hold of cheap. Injectors would be dependant on what management you run and what your mapper prefers, bosch injectors of various flow rates are what most people use.
