If it's cheap and decent, and you have space, it might be worth a punt. Certainly can't see them going in down in value. RS2000s/RS1800s will start to pick up as they're getting more and more rare now.

Hardly an RS in the true sense of the word (or the least appealing rs anyway)....but the badge is there so bound to always be worth slightly more than a rusty xr2i!!
Pmsl...'Big engine'!!! Take a look at how different an escort cosworth is to an xr3i for example and tell me how an RS1800 fiesta is not less of an rs!
A turbo! There shit lets be honest. Not worth alot imho!
fuck you , ive got a very clean daily runner with a 120,000 miles on it , never been rebuilt (but serviced every 5000 miles) bounce it off the rev limiter every day and give it hell , everyone i know says ' iam surpised you aint blown that car up yet' and isnt the engine 2 bhp less than the standard erst and frst? yes you can tune the turbo alot more but as a standard car there great fun , 4000 rpm then it starts to go well , all i would say is check the body shell if its clean then buy it and have some fun.

Extreme example. RS1600i, tuned XR3i essentially, MK1/2 RS2000, Escorts with big engines. FRST, XR2i with a turbo strapped on it.

So RS's need a turbo? That's a shame isn't it. Does that mean a MK2 Escort RS1800 isn't a proper RS?
They aren't worth a lot at the moment, but lets be honest, Cosworths and stuff went through a phase of being worth a lot less than they are now.
They'll pick up, they've got the badge, they'll always have some desirability, even if it isn't to the turbo blinker brigade
i own an erst and have owned 2 rs 1800's fezzies in the past and they are great little cars imo, and as a few people have said them and rs 2000 escorts are starting to creep up in value. Go for it mate with a decent exhaust and filter on and some konis they go and handle well.

wow is that all they do?
An rs doesnt need a turbo, to make it an rs. But am i right in thinking that the rs1800 only came about because of the emission laws killed the frst? And there not 'hardcore' like the others
i get wot your all sayin, an im not sayin it aint a good car but bar the engine bein 130ps rather than 105ps its evactly the same as a xr2i 16v, some even have the same seats instead of the recaros, not to mention most other major components, the rs 1600i had a lot of parts bespoke to it as did the s1 and s2 and u cant even begin to put it in the same catogory as the mk1/mk2 escorts, it was just a bit of badge trickery imho
