are they any good ERST
Its a very raw car to drive, more of a drivers car you can feel the road,i like em but i suppose its personal preference, they look good sound good, very tunable, and can be pricey
i think there easy to drive, you dont need power steering, a mate drove mine down the road the other day when i was tinting his windows on his work van, when he drove off, omg it sounded sexual, and when he got back he claimed it was hard to drive even tho he drove it off boost, and wasnt used to no power steering lol
ive always loved the ERST, i own a S2 which at the mo is only runnin 10 psi and is awsome fun, although i have always been more partial to the S1. but as above really mate, its very raw so dont expect any amazing mod cons other than elec windows and central locking lol

Well to sum it up. Mine's been really fucking me off lately and is back off up the barn to be stripped and rebuilt (again) as I just can't trust it to get me to where I want to go.
I'd just driven down to London 150 miles and 170 back the next day in my company car, Abarth 500 Essesse with full electric, leather seats, power stearing, dropped it off at home then did 60 miles in my runaround, 98 Subaru Impreza Classic, much the same, full leather, power stearing, all electric then went to take the Escort back up the barn last night straight after driving those 2 cars for over 200Miles.
Got in it, noticed I was sat in low, started it up, car shakes and vibrates slightly with the exhaust note, dip the clutch, noticably heavier and judders when you pull off, stearing feels heavy all of a sudden but then I took it for an hour blast last night and loved every second of it. The whole car smells "hot" now
The Scooby and Fiat, although both quick cars just feel so boring in comparison and if I had to choose any of them I'd pick the Escort everytime. I was genuinly gutted when I closed the workshop doors and walked towards the Scooby knowing I won't be driving it again untill at least x-mas.

When they are working as they should be they are great, sound like a rally car, look proper old skool, easy make into a fast car and you get strangers giveing nice comments.
Makesure you get the best you can afford, check shell for rust which is a killer on these cars.Have money in reserve as they are old now so expect things to go wrong from time to time.I love mine best car ive had for enjoyment.

ive had about 7 rs turbos and il always go back to them no matter how badly they let me down lol! the sound the looks and the driving experience are all worth it for the hassle of a few breakdowns!!
as already mentioned check the whole car for rust! i just broke up my f reg escort pickup and it was meant to be a clean shell was it fuck lol i spent months welding it and finally gave up!!
if i was buying another one it would have to be councourse or near to it, i would rather spend extra and get a good one rather than a welded up binner

i Built my orion up This time last year and after alot of teething problems its running quite well at the minute *touch wood* Nothing that can be said that hasn't already.
it gets loads of looks,
loads of smells when they're "warm" lol
rattles
squeaks
vibrations
you name it. but if you get it set up properly, mines running 1bar boost (about 14psi) and it still surprises loads of new cars. theres no better feeling than absolutely trouncing a 2009 peugeot 307cc with suit driver thinking he'll show this knackered old orion who's boss
