Default temp gauge faulty ?

hi all... i have got a problem with the temp gauge on me st24... it does not go past a 1/3 of the way up the gauge, even when the fans have come on... i have done a check by removing the plug that goes on the sender unit and earthed it out and the gauge still only goes to a 1/3 of the way... could the gauge be faulty, or is it something else... or is there something else i can try... cheers for any help people...

just try a new temperature sender mate. should be a cheap repair. if the fan cuts in then its gettin up to temperature but not telling the gauge how hot. if that dont work which it should then id look at the gauge side but i cant see that having any probs.

So long as you are earthing out the GAUGE sender and not the ecu sender, then if the gauge still reads only 1/3 the gauge is duff.
