Default S2 shows battery light when i switch the ignition off?

I have a major problem with my s2 in which i have replaced the battery twice, and the alternator twice because the battery kept going flat!
and now after all that the battery light has now started coming on after i turn the ignition off!
not too bothered but the following day the battery is flat and i need recharge the battery or jump it, tried removing the battery connector thinking it was that but that does not make a difference either! so now i am so pee'd off with the car and don't have a clue what to do. an electrician said that to investigate the problem he would charge by the hour and it may take allday! and his hourly charge is £50 quid! so told him to bother!
anyone had a similar problem?
