Default What could cause this?

Last night, myself and me lady were poodeling along in the astra having a chat when we approached a roundabout. I go round this roundabout everyday without issue, however, this time round the back decided to swap ends with the front for no apparent reason I WAS NOT hammering it AT ALL! we were actually just talking and i was doing about 15/20mph going round the bend when it happened.

The wheel bearing seems to be in order, plenty of air in the tyres and no obvious signs of anything wrong. But there blatently is.... ive never known a 1.4 auto FWD car to just break away like that without having something fundamentally wrong with it!

any ideas? suspension seems to be all good too

i would be inclined to go along with that, but for the fact that it has been a bit 'twitchy' round roundabouts for the last week or so (failed to mention that, sorry).

and its only on right hand bends it feels like its gonna break away...

Apart from something on the road the only real things that will effect the car is the camber of the road, the width (or lack of) of the tyres, tread depth (if it was wet) camber of the tyres, and obviously other supsension geometry...
Oh crap driving can also be a factor!

If it's an Astra thats a bit twitchy round bends - its worth checking out the anti roll bar links - they break all the time.

That wouldnt cause your end swop though.

Diesel on the road would be my guess. Filling station nearby?

all tyres have good tread, plenty of air etc, no play in bearings, dry road, no diesel... it just went

anti roll bar links are worth checking tho... ta

drove it at about 30mph round the m25 this morning any faith i had in it was swiftly swept away last night

Probably a combination of dirty, slippy roads, and a closed throttle

Neil.
