If someone updates a thread, such as a resto thread with a pile of photo's........can the mongs that then quote the post with all the photo's just to say something like, "nice car" or "keep up the hard work" go and think about how shit it makes the thread?

It's so boring loading a page to see the same set of photo's 5 times and only a few sentences of banal comments. If you comment just quote the post WITHOUT the photos unless you have a specific comment or question about a particular photo, in which caes just qoute that one!

As an aside to that, is there an option to 'switch off' people's sigs on this forum without switching off pics that are posted. I'm just wondering if it would speed up the page load times? Noticed on mainly text sites like PH that the page load is very fast. This site is about the slowest I visit and I wondered if it was the sigs that everyone has?

 

I'm all for a ban for those that choose to do this. same with posting picstures full size, it slows the page down so much while it rescales them, if you just uploaded for web in the first place with a longside of about 800px then it would all work alot faster.

Don't mind people copying say one photo to comment on but the whole lot gets ridiculous!

 

I thought that the forum software could be changed to remove pics from quotes. Maybe Stu can answer this? I've seen other forums I'm sure where this is the case.

 

that firmly does my nut in too, but for some reason on here I only see the clickable links and not the photos anyway

 

There are options to switch of Signatures, Avatars and Images in the UserCP section.

See the little 'scales' icon, you can also give people reputation points there, it's used when you appreciate somebodys input!!

but i disagree as it if people put "your doing good","keep up the good work" etc etc its a nice comment and makes the person more keener to get more doing also it nice to put pics up to show the progress on someones car to let people see how much work and time has went into itso why complain about itif its a resto thread people will comment i like to go onto the resto threads and see how people are getting on with there cars also to see how they do itso wheres the problem i also like to put a comment as its nice to be nice and have appreciation for someone trying to make there car nice to keep nice cars in good condition

yes its good to comment on some ones hard & usually expensive work & upgrades but the pic,s bit is annoying at best.
