Hi
I have a 1360 xflow in my kit car and it has developed a rattle like the sound of a ka on the overrun. I have changed the big end shells but its not helped. The oil pressure is fine no smoke from the exhuast and performance hasnt been effected.

Any ideas what could cause this?

 

small end bearing?

 

have you checked the valve clearances?

 

Would'nt the small end bearings make noise on tickover? As this noise is only coming on overrun.

Valve clearance is fine.

 

Timming chain ?

have you removed a rocker arm to check they aren't worn where the top of the valve stem meets the arm, if this is worn this can cause the symptoms you described.
