its around 340bhp and 44k miles
still running the original std clutch.
what kind of power can the std clutches take?
the ap organic is the best 1 to get for that power isnt it?

Gav,

As with most clutches, the uprated Organic and Paddle have roughly the same power-handling ability. It's the style of driving that more dictates which one to choose.

A daily-driven car should have the Organic really, whilst a car that gets abused on the strip and track needs a Paddle. Knowing you, you probably told him to fit a Quinton Hazel cover with an AP Paddle plate.

P.S. Can't remember what it was you were dribbling on about on MSN pip-squeak.

I'll be supprised if its making 340bhp on the std clutch at 44kmiles they normally slip at that power with that mileage.

Organic AP clutch if it was my choice

Yes, but the uprated kits have a cover with higher clamping load.

Sore subject for me as mine is fucked

I wouldnt imagine 340 bhp would let a standard clutch last long.

Anyone got a price for standard and uprated?

id be very surprised to see it make that without overheating tbh
My standard clutch gave at 285 bhp with 320 lb/ft with only 20k on.
id dig deeper for the exact spec etc

these are just my thoughts but....

340bhp on a standard clutch might not neccessarily destroy it.... it would depend on the way the power comes in, and how much torque it develops, if the car is running direct [probably is as its the fashion at the mo]and how it is driven..... i'm not saying it'll be fine, just that you need to think about these factors too

i had my car custom mapped -only 280bhp but 300lb/ft from low down, now its running direct, its all happening at the top end, 290bhp now but probably better for my clutch

the standard chargecoooler has no bearing on increased power output, its the opposite way around, an uprated chargecooler will stop you losing power as the inlet temps heat up.......

more power = hotter gases out of the turbo which need cooling down

so on a standard cooler you will just heat the whole cooling system up quicker, uprated has better cooling, so will let you enjoy your power for longer but if you are doing a track day by the end of a session your inlet temps will be 50degrees and will need a good rest to let the coolant temp cool down.....

but it could give that in just one run on the rollers- a quick blast up the revs won't give you a real indication of how effective the cooler is working

Your right there buddy
I had my car setup like that with an upgraded chargecooler and did a trackday at oulton park
Its now running air to air, i know my temps at oulton were sitting high on my scangauge will be interesting to see how they fare with a different setup. just my 2p as im not technically minded lol.
