the mrs and i are after a new camera, want something decent that's going to last. now she's quite into her photography so would like a slr type thing BUT 1. i don't think we can afford that and 2. its for us both to use and i like something i can use with minimal fuss.
got a budget of around £250 so can anyone recomend something or give advice on what i should be looking for?
cheers

Something like the Nikon D40 would suit you both, its right in your price range too
Plenty of scope for progression/upgrades as and when you feel the need, its a great entry level DSLR camera, good quality bit of kit which can produce good images without the high pricetag associated with DSLR kit. It can, like most DSLR camera's, be used in fully automatic aswell as manual and semi-automatic modes, so you can learn at your own pace too.

What about the Fujifilm S2000HD?
Argos do them for about £200 I think. The're 10mp and have a 15x optical lens, which I think is roughly equivelent to the old 500mm lenses.
I've got an older Fujifilm D-SLR and it's been brilliant. Good all rounder.
Hope this helps?
