Default peugeot 206 key fell to pieces-possible chip lost)

Hi,
Really need some advice, it seems my parents went to the supermarket. On the way in to get the shopping.

He put the key in the door to lock it, the key jammed and key fell to pieces in his hands. (its been unable to start since)

I didn't know until an hour ago, after I towed the car back home. I've
tried searching for the keyfob 'chip' on the ground without success.

The key is back in its complete form. The car will not start.

Can any one tell me for sure, if these stupid peugeots have chips in
the key, if they do, can i bypass the Imob or is she gonna have to
spend a forture getting this sorted? She's really worried that she's gonna spend money that should be paying off bills.

Any help really appreciated.
