Alternator replaced in feb on mates mr2 dues to oil leak onto it. (oil leak fixed at the time too)

Now happened again, alternator dead, due to another oil leak.


What recourse do they have? Is it reasonable to expect the garage to sort FOC? Its just not a good job!

 

if its due to an oil leak it will invalidate the alternators warranty

 

I can do better, fitted a recon altanator on my Astra van in March due to the old one being worn out, had to fit another one last week, no oil leaks or any other problems, just shitly reconditioned, foookin pony!!

 

Maybe so, but the oil leak was fixed at the same time. Its now back, and has knackered the alt. Not the alts fault, but it is down to the oil leak.

 

If the same people did both jobs, then you would reasonably expect it to last longer, the leak fix and the alternator.
Who's fault it is is the garage that did both jobs, assuming they did both ?, but getting anything done about it is a completely different matter.
