Anyone uprate ARB to a 3dr

As above,I am looking into now getting a thicker ARB for my 3dr.
Any advise would be good.Do the sapp or escos items fit directly on a 3dr or have some mods got 2 be carried out.
Please advise on the best mod please if possible?Aftermarket kit any good like Eibach or should I stick with an escos or sapp ARB.
Some advise on the front ARB would be useful aswell.Again can u use a thicker one of the escos or sapp or aftermarket once again?
What are the advantges of this please?Does tighten up/stabilize the rear of the car and less body roll??

mounting points are diffrenet on the three door but they can be fitted with a little modification, 4x4 saph is best, ive heard the escos one is a bit much

The Sapphire 4x4 one is apparently best from what I understand; the Escort one's too thick and too stiff. The Scorpio one will also fit, but I can't remember how thick it is.

Scorpio one is 21mm, but ONLY from bug eye scorpio, SALOON, no other one is the same shape, the later granada type scorpio is different.
I have now adjusted my set up, 22mm thick rear bar, custom made of course.
AWSOMENESS is the understatement of the year, more comfy, less roll shit loads more stability, esp under heavy braking.
The biggest problem on some is clearance around poly diff mount.
Anyone that says 2mm is too much imo has not tried it, cozmeister can at the weekend, I'll let him tell you what he thinks, the one made has three stiffnesses anyway for experimenting.
It did intially induce understeer, but one complete turn on avo adjuster makes front dig in much harder, strangely it has got a LOT more comfy with harder settings with new rear arb, mines on middle hole, which is same length/position as escos.

Has anybody made the brackets to fit this to the 3dr,i have got a escort arb but need some drop brackets ?

I'm not aware of any aftermarket kits like Eibach and H&R do for other cars for the Cosworth range. There msay be one but I've never heard of one..................HOWEVER the Ford parts bin gives you a range of options.

The front one on your car will be 28mm diameter and may be either a H13 type or the later/recall type H14 that is the same diameter but gives a degree of extra caster( as fitted to the 2wd Sapphire/RS500 and later 3 door ) . The casting is stamped on it at on offside end if you want to check. You may find if you have big wheels and you go from H13 to H14 ARB the wheels might rub the splitter.
Unless you go for compression struts and a bladed type I'm not aware of any other Ford options for the front.

For the rear, your 3-door will have a 14mm type as standard. As said you will need to weld the brackets on to your rear end if you want to fit the other options which are...

2wd Sapphire - 16mm
4wd Sapphire - 18mm
Scorpio Codface - 21mm
Escort Cosworth - 22mm

A good balance if you weld the brackets on has been suggested as your front-end as is with the later H14 ARB ( you might well already have this ) and then the 18mm rear ARB at the back.
Suspension is a bit of personal choice though - personally I'd try one change at a time, get your diff mount first, try that, then maybe Ahmed springs and Konis, see what you think ...and then mess with the rear ARB if you're not happy.
It's easier to see the individual effect of each change then.
Get your geometry checked as well as small changes here can make an enormous difference in my experience.

I was doing 150+ yesterday on long sweeping bends, the balance and stability with it's new adjustable 22mm rear bar is out of this world, not even a merest hint of rear wheel steer unlike the std sloppy crap with "bouncy bush" and "wobbly bar".
Depending on what you want custom bars out of correct ENT16 steel can be done no problem at all, front or rear, even to use with comnpression struts no problem.

Lee - finally found those Lotus course notes on suspension set ups from our Uni Motorsport degree lecture but have mislaid my mobile with ur number. Maybe catch you at Coombe mate - have also pm'd on RS owners. No new info mind you - just nice to see the Lotus logo on them - lol!
