What a classic!!

Other car forums come up with threads like 'Show us your Titanium Exhaust' or 'Show us your huge turbo'.

We have 'Show us your rust'. Legendary. I'll start.

Here's what it looked like on the outside..... (Doesn't look too bad huh?)

Here's what was on the inside......

Here's how I fixed it......

So, if you have just one or two rust spots near your sunroof, trust me, it WON'T be OK. My car is VERY rust free and I didn't escape it.

Jacko you fucking show-off.

You know that if I had the money, my car would without doubt be winging its way to you. Also a permanent solution to my temporary sunroof repair is another thing stopping me.

With a mag feature inevitably happening at some point this year, it's a shame I couldn't do it before then, but this latest conversion work has virtually cleared me out.

In any case, that S1 looks awesome.

Defo want a roof with no hole this time. Bodywork scares the shit out of me, I'm attracted to giving it to someone to do and not seeing it until its done.

It needs rear arches too, but apart from that, it really is good.

My rust is pretty much self-inflicted, which is why it's isolated to 2 main area's. I need to do some basic rust-prevention underneath soon as one or two bits are beginning to need attention, but they really are nothing serious. Also, I have some underseal missing where we seam-welded the inner arches at the rear.

I won't post mine up. If I did you'd have to edit the title with "extremely pic heavy"

I find more by the day!!

Im in the middle of sorting my cars inside floor out and so far i've encounterd a few things...

- 4 small holes in the boot floor whilst doing the screwdriver test.
- A rather frightening looking big hole on the rear are (behin where to back bumper comes round)
- A few soft spots down the front door sills and the passenger side floor is wet underneath (battery tray gone maybe?)
- And i cant get the fucking front drivers seat out because the bolts rusted in place!

How repairable are cars with alot of rust, and just say for arguments sake. My car is bad, but its not awful, what would i be looking at pricewise for welding etc to sort it out.

Woul the holes in the boot need welding or is there anything esle i could do?

Coming from the aircooled vee-dub scene, I've seen some real horrors brought back from the dead. Infact my own 1963 Beetle was pretty fucked. It never ceases to amaze me and still scares the shit out of me.

Awesome job you do Jacko, hats off to you lad.

Now, did you manage to find those blanks?
