Who's going then ? I guessed out of all the users I can't be the only one going

I'm yet to look at the weather report but I'll assume rain as it usually pisses down either at the event or a few days before thus making it muddy as hell.

For anyone who is going who are you looking forward to seeing ?

To name a few:

Kasabian
Blur (same time as Prodigy too grrr)
Friendly Fires

Been told by my brother he'll murder me if I don't go and see Bruce Springsteen with him so we'll see how he goes down although typically there are others I wouldn't mind seeing who are playing at the same time

The line up is HUGE, going down wednesday to get a good spot, its going to be a LONG week

Yeh I agree the line up isn't amazing but there is easily enough bands everyday to go and see and its a rare chance to see a lot of acts I wouldn't normally get the chance to go and see.

I'll add shorts to my list of thing to take as I hadn't considered that lol

See you at the bus

That is the only thing with V that every year the prices go up if you don't buy straight away, Glasto was the same price as your V Tickets and generally you get a lot more for your money it seems.

I've been doing V since 1999 and can't say I've ever had a crap festival, some wet some dry but thats what its all about, the music and atmosphere is always brilliant.

The other thing with V is they release the line up (or some of it) well before Glastonbury does which sways people towards going to it more than Glasto as its a bit of a unknown.

I won't do both next year, its my brothers 40th this year so I was asked to go for a weeks long party, I didn't take much convincing thats for sure lol

Yeh it was Dicky Ashcroft and Moby headlining iirc, my first proper festival which got me hooked for life.

I still have all my lanyards (I think they are called?) seen some amazing bands over the years when I think about it !

I went to that one and to 2000 but not been to one since! Im hoping to get one in again one day lol!
99 was better than 2000 though. Was quite wet at 2000 although faithless raised the spirits a bit!

Im going to Glastonbury again this year,Started going to it in 94 but missed a few this decade!
Not bothered about there not being so many bands this year as theres so much more to glastonbury then the bands playing.

Am realy looking forward to Spinal Tap and Prodigy though.
Seen Blur a few times and there shit live!
And as for Kasabian i would rather have root filling then listen to them lol.

I'm of the same opinion as you when it comes to the line up, so much more than just music there and tbh as I said earlier it gives me a chance to see the less well known bands which would normally be missed.

Gutted about Blur though, seen them on TV at Madison Square Gardens and I thought they were awesome but that was literally years ago, I've seen Prodigy twice this year so I don't mind missing them this time though, I'll take the risk and I do know the Prodigy WILL rock it out properly.

As for Kasabian though I won't miss that, one of the bext bands I've seen live and strangely as they were voted as the best live act several times tells me their clearly just not your sort of band which makes me think Blur maybe won't be that bad lol fingers crossed on that one.

Either way its going to be several days of great music and no cars to work on.

Result !

Nothing you'd be into I doubt fella, I got a biiiiig background in Brass Banding, so was asked to play Trumpet for a Jazz band on the Jazz World Stage. Not sure if they have a website or anything, probably do, just too busy to care. Got another gig to play at over weekend which pays better for me! haha!

Advice for Glasto or festivals in general ?

I'm a Glastonbury virgin so I don't know what to expect but generally for festivals I remember to take these things as essentials !

Baby wipes
Toilet Roll
Torch
Towels
Beer
Tent
Mallet !

Maybe some others can add what their essentials are to that list

Well who else would you want info off except your mate who lives there! But like johnnybravo said, baby wipes are life savers, even at car shows!

We left at 4am so I avoided that traffic ! was it really bad ?

It took me 4hrs to get home and the sat nav said 3.5 so I don't think I did that bad, it was starting to get a bit muddy by 4 though so I can only imagine what the walk to the car park was like later on !

We got into the car at 9.30 and got out well after 11. The bad thing was we didnt even move for an hour and the event management trying to drive their landy the opposite way to the traffic didn't help

Still the music over the weekend was superb apart from Enter Shikari

To name a few we saw beardyman, prodigy, doves, lady gaga, springsteen, kasbian, fucked up (Lead singer was hilarious with his antics) and rolf Harris..

Strangely I actually liked the Enter Shakari sound, just not the pointless shouting, the beats are dark a bit like Prodigy but totally spoilt by the attempt at singing.

Weirdo of the weekend was matey from the Rakes LOL nutter

We say a band in the Avalon bar tent, can't remember their name but the track I remember went something like this :

If there is a man at your door with a hammer he's a killer !, if there is a man at your door with a spanner he's a plumber ............ or a killer You just had to be there

other strange moments was a comedian on a stage near Avalon who was entertaining a load of families by bringing kids up on stage asking them to whisper the nautiest swear word they knew, so on comes this girl and says something to him, walks off and he shouts out "She has set the standard with the word CUNT" i didn't know where to look and neither did half of the mums and dads sitting infront of him LOL

Another strange moment will of been the outdoor accrobat doing his thing to the Titanic soundtrack whilst suspended from a crane

Glastonbury is simply amazing
