If you open the boot, there are wires that run inside the bootlid from the car beside the hinge on BOTH sides, what are these for???
I got a boot off a 4x4, one side matches the car wiring, but the other side has different colours and a different connector.
I presume one is for the bootlock and or computer in dash to tell u the boots open, but i don't know what the other side does, from memory there are 3 wires on each.

 

Facelift one perhaps ?

 

No idea, i know the bootlids off a 4x4, and the car i put it onto is an 88' Saph.

 

Facelift 4x4's had extra contacts on the door locks for the ford alarm,could be that.

 

would be central locking motors, as 2wd and 4wd are different

 

I did a similar change today, I found the new bootlid off the facelift or 4x4 lock mech wouldnt work. I believe these cars had a release handle by the drivers seat.

So I ended up taking all the locks and wires out of my 1989 boot to move into the new one. I also had to mod the lock hole a bit as the earlier lock barrel is a different shape.

And as for which does what, If I recall the wires on the passenger side are for the central locking motor, should be three connectors/wires and the wires on the drivers side are for the boot light and computer display.
