We went down Power Engineering today to see their new dyno in action and to get a few power runs
My mate Neil’s car

It made 545bhp with an exhaust blow, should have been more but Iain thought it felt short of ignition timing.
My mate Cliff’s car

Cliff’s car was suffering some detonation so Iain aborted the run
Mine

The figures for mine? I was expecting around 260bhp and 310lb/ft

Ignore the boost figure, unless the gauge is massively wrong in the car it was 1.2 bar

Well chuffed with those results and love the fact that you can get low cars on and off the dyno without issue because it is sunk into the ground.
Thanks Iain for the power runs

It looks like a really good setup there and I'll be taking my cossie back for a setup and check over in the near future. Iain spent a lot of time on the cars today and was very thorough with them
good to see them up and running again.

Good ole Eyeball! (aka: Ian Ball) Top bloke!
I used to work at Power Engineering on saturdays with Ian and Chris Todd in the dyno bay. Was a great laugh
Ian will ALWAYS give you an honest no BS assesment/opinion on anything. Very very capable and a much underated guy in my opinion.
I'd trust him with my car without a doubt.

Mike, we did for a while, run as a seperate company, we shared the building with 2 other people & split the costs, one of them went which put the costs up, then the other one decided to leave a few months after, that left it a big outlay for me & Iain (the tuner) to cover every month, i had since moved to Northamptonshire & the drive was a bit of a pain,, in the end we decided to look at moving the tuning side over to the workshop, Ecutek (next door to the PE dyno) took over the tuning building & bought the old dyno, that was last year, P.E. is now run as one company again headed by Richard who started the place some 23 years ago!

when he took the booking he just laughed and said "renault 5 cosworth, that will confuse him" lol
there shouldnt really need any tuning, just a check up
tps needs setting up, fuel and boost just need checking and maybe a tweek, thats all i think.
i had an operation yesterday so hopefully im up to it, but so far so good. lol
