Default sapphire rear bump hanger bracket

So i finally got around to getting a replacemnet rear bumper, as previous owner reversed into a post i think.

I spoke to Garry at http://www.rscosworthbreakers.co.uk and worked out a deal for a freshly painted bumper and a couple of days later i drove down to Portsmouth and picked it up.

Also had a ogle at his race prepped RS500 fresh back from the engine builders.

When i fitted the item both hanger guide pegs broke, i guess this is a normal failure point.

So anyone know what i can do to fix the freshly painted bumper rather then getting another one

I did notice that the hanger bracket is riveted on so is there a repair kit or replacement bracket available?

Are you meaning the whole metal bracket has come off the bumper because the torx bolt has snapped?? NEVER seen that before and i've been through loads of bumpers in my time, i do have some spare brakets if that's any help, but by the sounds of it, it won't be.

Hi Rog

Here are some pics of the broken driverside and still intacked9 but on its way out passenger side pegs.

I just spoke to Garry at http://www.rscosworthbreakers.co.uk and he suggested that i try to used a shorten bolt and washer in place of the broken pegs which sounds like a good next step.

Firstly I can't see the pics (firewall type rubbish at work), BUT if it's the side mounts on the bumper they can be easily modified as I have done it many times in the past.
You have to be very careful mind!
Basically i drilled a hole right through the bracket where the centre of the original bit that mounts to the car was. I had 3 or 4 bumpers i've done this to, but not sure if any of the knackered ones i have justnow have this ( i can take a pic if i can find one i've done) as i had a clearout and replaced the ones on the car with unbroken items. I remember i had to remove one of the plastic rivets out of the bracket so i could prise it far enough away from the bumper to bet a long m10 or similar bolt through from behind the bracket.

Then i just made sure the whole on the car matched up with the OD of the bolt i used and it sits in there just fine, you can put a nut on it from the back but from experience it didn't need it if you make the hole tight enough just to fit around the bolt.

That sounds like a good option. I would be very intrested in seeing an example of this fix if you could find a pic that would be great.
