can your dad stand and defend you in court
or does it need to be a solicitor. a mate got nicked for fighting and carrying offensive weapon (piece of wood) and reckons he will get his dad to defend him??? no his dad has no experience in court matters
Best get him to take a couple of tubes of KY Jelly and some inflatable rubber rings into court with them as they will get buttfcuked by the prosecution.
You can choose to represent yourself but its not advisable

Yes his dad can represent him, but with those charges? The very best of luck to him. It could look WORSE by not having proper legal representation as the judge may think he does not appreciate the severity of the crime.
I think it's best he seeks proper legal advise.

People who defend themselves in court have fools for clients!
I guess the same could be said for having a relative doing the representation - too close to the situation, emotionally caught up, and inexperienced in presenting information in a concise and cogent way = bad news.
